5 Budget-Friendly Adventures in St. Petersburg, Florida

Have you ever found yourself fantasizing about a family vacation to the stunning St Petersburg, Florida-only to realize how expensive that vacation may be?

Or maybe you’re a traveler on a budget like myself. I am always searching for amazing yet budget-friendly experiences to enjoy with my boyfriend. St. Pete, Florida is always a go-to vacation spot for us, and we have found many experiences that fit into our budget!

St. Petersburg may be one of Florida’s most popular vacation spots, and many vacationers know that with popularity, often comes expense. But, this does not have to be the case with these five budget-friendly adventures!

1. Sunken Gardens

Sunken Gardens is a beautiful roadside attraction in St. Pete. I was stunned to learn that this living museum is 100 years old! This attraction has grown more spectacular with age and current renovations prove that it will only get better.

The vastness of this museum is unexpected when walking through the entrance. After looking at the map we started exploring the trails and quickly realized how big and beautiful this museum actually is. There are multiple small waterfalls and koi ponds filled with huge beautiful fish! They also have live birds such as parrots, and flamingos!

Admission is $10 for adults and $4 for children. But they sometimes offer a Groupon making admission up to half off!

2. Boyd Hill Nature Preserve

Boyd Hill Nature Preserve is a 245-acre park filled with beautiful scenery, making it perfect for any nature lover. The park is equipped with 6 miles of trails and boardwalks, picnic areas and shelters, and a playground. The playground and picnic tables can be enjoyed for free outside of the preserve.

This nature preserve has a $3 admission fee for adults and $1.50 fee for children to walk the trails. Making it a very budget friendly adventure for any family!

3. St Pete Beach

A vacation to St. Petersburg is simply not complete without a trip to the stunning St. Pete Beach! This white sandy beach is located off the Gulf of Mexico and can be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone. Amazing Floridian sunsets on St. Pete beach should be a must-see for anyone vacationing in St. Petersburg.

Walking along the beach with the waves splashing is extremely relaxing and one thing we look forward to every time we are in St. Pete. There is typically a parking fee to park near the beach, but the expense is forgotten once you experience this stunning beach.

4. St Pete Saturday Morning Market

The St. Pete Saturday Morning Market opens early October and runs every Saturday from 9am-2pm until late in May. This farmers market offers visitors high quality produce, live music and a variety of performers such as balloon artists and magicians.

There were many booths at this market with a variety of items for everyone, even treats for families with furry friends. We were pleasantly surprised by the vast amount of food stands that served everything from fresh fruit cups and smoothies to Cuban food and barbeque! The fresh produce and flowers looked incredible and were reasonably priced. There were no admission fees, but there was $10 a cost for parking in a structure near the market.

5. Sawgrass Lake Park

Sawgrass Lake Park is another premium spot for the nature lover in us all. This 400-acre park offers a mile-long boardwalk, nature trail, observation tower, and education center. Sawgrass is located on a maple swamp, which brings many opportunities to observe alligators, turtles and multiple species of birds.

Sawgrass Park has been a go-to park for us to visit whenever we are in St. Pete. We have personally seen many alligators in the waters of the swamp! The observation tower is perfect for viewing the gators and other wildlife. The wooden boardwalk also gives many opportunities to observe Floridian nature at its finest. The best part is it is completely free!

With these five budget-friendly experiences, a vacation in St. Pete can still be unforgettable, while not breaking the bank!
